Filmmaker Dianne Livingston and her crew use enthusiastic, if somewhat naïve, Jack Innov (A pseudonym) as the subject of their latest documentary, ?Hardcore: A Poke into the Adult Film Orifice'. 28 year old Jack has been making films since he was ten and dreams of one day making ?real? films. But in order to finance these pictures for himself he must first venture into the much more profitable adult film arena and produce a self penned blue movie titled ?Assanova? for financial gain. Jack hires a reasonably inexperienced cast and crew with the financial backing of Reg and Ron; a couple of straight to the point scrap metal merchants come ?film producers?. Shooting commences using Super-8 film of the ?forty minute epic with a cast of six? and includes stars Thom Cruz, Daisy Filler and Bunty Shades. However, egotistical cinematographer Randolph Gerbles manages to un-expose all the film stock and after taking a few days off, the filming re-starts, shooting on video; with cameras borrowed from a local amateur film society. Next major disaster strikes when Thom Cruz injures his penis on-set, only to be ingeniously replaced by a reluctant Jack. Jack?s day in court sees him receive a fine plus sixty hours of community service, delivering meals on wheels with the GBH/minor pilfering convicted, ?Psycho? Simon. On the final day of the shoot ? the grand finale of the picture, the intended actress drops out after ?feeling fat?. After giving it some thought, having watching Jack go through minor hell, documentary director Diane Livingston offers to step in and play the part. The shoot wraps despite many an unprecedented incident, only for all the footage to be seized by Reg and Ron the producers, cut and distributed their way and re-titled ?Slots of Fun?. Jack gives up his plans to make any more adult films and with this sorry revelation to the documentary crew, director Diane Livingston also reveals to Jack that she ?set him up? at the cinema with the masturbation incident, in order to ?spice up the documentary?. A final recap reveals that the cast and crew individually went on to ?other? things, whilst Jack and Diane embarked upon a personal relationship resulting in a baby boy named Woody. Despite successfully suing Reg and Ron for using his image without clearance, Jack Innov never received a penny as they declared themselves bankrupt after TAX evasion proceedings from the ?Slots of Fun? profits.
